The Gothenburg Region Association of Local Authorities (GR) is a cooperative organization for 13 municipalities in western Sweden - the combined population of these municipalities is 900.000 people. GR’s mission is to promote cooperation over municipal borders and provide a forum for exchange of ideas and experience within the region. GR’s activities are meant to benefit the municipalities, and also support the region nationally and internationally.

GR Education

GR Education is a service organization within the Gothenburg Region Association of Local Authorities (GR), specializing in school development. The primary areas of operation are:

• Educational Resource Service
• School - Labor Market
• High school admission
• Education cooperation

Pedagogic Center

 

The Pedagogical Center is a hub for information and experience exchange within the education area, primarily open to everyone working in the education sector of the GR member municipalities.

Educational Resource Service

GR Education Resources provide schools with the opportunity to borrow from an extensive and up-to-date selection of learning media, such as TV-programs, educational movies, documentaries, feature films, radio shows and CD-ROMs. The whole selection is presented in a web directory from which materials can be ordered. Also available, to an increasing extent, is the option of viewing movies directly online in a “streamed” format.

At Gårdavägen 4, we have a permanent educational resource exhibition for the benefit of teachers. We also have a multimedia studio. Here, educational materials, documentaries, etc. (film and video) are produced for schools and municipalities.

School - Labor Market

GR Education offers the service of coordinating school and labor market contacts for primary schools, high schools and adult education in the Gothenburg region. One aspect of this coordination lies in creating new contacts with companies interested in cooperation with schools, and maintaining and updating these contacts. This includes informing and inspiring schools to use them. The website Praktikplatsen.se has been developed to facilitate contact between schools and workplaces.

High School Admission

The High School Admission coordinates the admission to all public and private schools in the region. The goal is to admit as many students as possible to their firsthand choice schools, and to provide municipalities/schools with the basis for a rational high school organization.

Education Cooperation

GR Education provides the member municipalities with a high quality pedagogic resource center, founded on an educational vision and regional education policy goals. GR Education initiates and runs networks, and organizes meetings for people such as school politicians, school administrators and principals.
